Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC in collaboration with Nigerian National Petroleum Company NNPC has presented medical equipment to Bayelsa State Government to assist in its fight against COVID-19.
Alhaji Mele Kyari Group Managing Director, NNPC represented by Mrs. Wobunwo Chinonye, Sales representative of the company in the state said the move is part of the organization’s corporate social responsibility in supporting Bayelsa State in combating the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
She promised that the NNPC, SPDC, TEPN, NAOC and its partners would continue to monitor the pandemic situation closely and put in business contingency plans in place while working with relevant government authorities on established protocol.
Mr. Osagie Okunbor, General Manager, External Relation, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, represented by Mr. Igoh Weli Managing Director of Shell and Country Chair said the only viable measures to combat the virus is to enhance the medical capacity and of Bayelsa State with the model PCR machine approved by Nigeria Center for Disease control.
Receiving the items, Governor Douye Diri who was represented by Chief Konbowei Benson Secretary to the State Government applauded the companies for their kind gesture and assured that the government would put into use the medical items for the benefit of Bayelsans.
Items donated include Hospital Beds, Mattresses, ICU Ambulance, Defibrillators, 16KVA Generator, Suction Machines, Infra-Red thermometers and Respiratory nebulizers.
Hospital Grade Oxygen Cylinders, Face Masks, Nitrile Procedure Gloves, Surgical Face Mask, Gum Boots, Disposable High-Tech Coverall, Goggle and Face Shields were also included.
