The Bayelsa State Government has made significant progress on a 60MW gas turbine project aimed at addressing the state’s power challenges, reassuring that Bayelsans will begin to enjoy uninterrupted power supply by December this year.
Comr. Wisdom Ikuli, Technical Adviser to Governor Douye Diri on Media (Print) and Public Affairs, gave the assurance when he led a team of journalist on a tour of the installation site at Elebele in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
Ikuli highlighted the project’s progress, noting that the state government has reclaimed the environment and installed necessary infrastructure and praised Governor Diri’s leadership, describing him as a visionary leader committed to delivering results.
According to Ikuli the project is expected to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to Bayelsans, improving their quality of life and economic activities, emphasized that the governor’s focus on power generation will rewrite the history of Bayelsa State.
Regarding electricity bills, Ikuli assured that the state government is committed to making power affordable for Bayelsans, citing Governor Diri’s humble and compassionate nature.
The project is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
Also speaking, Director of Operations in the Bayelsa Electricity Company Limited, Engr. Steve Bubagha jr. said it is intensifying efforts in the installation of the newly acquired 60MW power plant to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in the State.
Bubagha jnr, reiterated the firm’s resolve to deliver the project according to specifications and within timelines.
He noted that the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri can be likened to light as he meant every promised he has made on powering the state, especially Yenagoa and its environs on/before the end of this year.
Speaking on the relationship between host community of the project, Elebele and the Bayelsa Electricity Company ltd, the Director of Operations, stressed that the firm and the community enjoy a very cordial working relationship, saying the host community has been very cooperative and has Continued to synergize with the firm for timely completion of the project without any form of impediment.
