Youths across the Ijaw Nation have been advised to emulate the very good virtues and legacies of late Issac Adaka Boro and Pa E.K Clark, as they mark the 57th anniversary of Boro Day celebration.

Ex-Agitator, Gen. Abiri Stanley, alias, ‘Faceless gave the advise, while speaking to journalists on the sideline of this year’s Boro Day Day celebration in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.

According to him, Boro fought for self -determination and emancipation of his people during his life time, his struggle for a better condition of his people was unquantifiable, adding that, Boro, also was a defender of the poor and oppressed.

The Ex-Agitator noted that, Boro through a life of self-denial has done a great honour to Ijaw nation, Niger Delta image and Nigerian’ and in death has proved a worthy hero.

In the same vein, Gen.Abiri, who is the Bayelsa State State Coordinator of the Third Phase of Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), places late Boro and Pa E.K. Clark — in the same higher spiritual realm of leaders who dedicated their lives to liberate the Ijaw Nation. Stressing that, Boro and Pa Clark were men of the masses that fought for Ijaw people.

He emphasized that, while wealth and status may fade, but Boro commitment to the struggle to emancipate his people and the Niger Delta, in general, stating Boro embodies these enduring values that was why we are celebrating him.

He said for Pa Clark he stood for the principle of unity, equity and justice for every way

He also expressed concern over the escalating cult crisis in the state, and advised the youths to channel their energy towards productive venture that would prosper them in the future.

Abiri , was of the view that, youths who go about to vandalize or loot property during Boro Day celebration are criminals and warned them to desist from such acts, noting that Boro didn’t represent anything criminal.

He said, Boro Day celebration is a reflection of the selfless life and time of the iconic hero and his numerous contributions to the emancipation of his people and the Niger Delta region.

He also called youths in the Niger Delta to maintain the peace in the street across the region. Adding that, it would do nobody any good to foment trouble and distablise the existing peace in the region.

According to him, he foresaw a situation in the near future were great leaders of the Ijaw nation would emerge, and we are seeing that in the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme PAP, Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, he remarked.
